Self-serve platform or full implementation — how to choose

If you got here after looking at ManyChat, WATI or Respond.io, it is worth saying up front: these are not four competing products. They are two different categories.

Those three are self-serve platforms — you get an excellent tool and build it yourself. Connectop is a full implementation — we scope, build, integrate with your systems, and maintain.

So the useful question is not "which is cheaper" but "who has the time and the knowledge to build and maintain this?"

What you actually pay

This is the part most comparisons skip: the sticker price is not the price. Each platform scales on a different axis, and each charges separately for something.

ManyChat

Scales with contacts. On 2 March 2026 the pricing model was restructured and the free tier dropped from 1,000 contacts to 25. Above 7,500 contacts there is a $0.025 per-contact charge. AI capabilities are not included on any plan — they are a separate $29 per month.

WATI

Scales with seats. $24 per additional user per month on Pro, $59 on Business. On top of that, $25 per 1,000 automation triggers, $20 per 1,000 AI credits, and a markup over WhatsApp's own message rates.

Respond.io

Scales with monthly active contacts. Overage runs at $12 per 100 MACs, which can double the monthly bill when reply rates are high. To their credit, they pass Meta's conversation fees through with no markup of their own.

Connectop

Scales with the work, once. 2,500 contacts are included at ₪299 per month. If you want every channel plus AI, that is a single plan at ₪599 per month — one number that does not climb. Beyond that you pay only Meta's message fees, which everyone pays.

When each approach is right

Choose a self-serve platform if…

You have a team that can build and maintain it · You operate in English and that is enough · You only need a text bot on WhatsApp · You would rather control every change yourself · Monthly budget is the binding constraint.

Choose Connectop if…

You want someone to build it, not hand you a tool · Your customers speak Hebrew and the bot has to sound natural · You need integration with systems you already run · You need phone answering and not only chat · Security and regulation matter — healthcare, finance, public sector.

On price, compared like for like: the ManyChat plan that matches ours is Pro — 2,500 contacts at $29 a month, with AI a further $29. That is about $58 a month. Our comparable tier is ₪299, roughly $80. The gap is around $20 a month — and for it, someone else built the thing, connected it to your systems, maintains it, and answers you in Hebrew by phone and WhatsApp. On top of that, team management and permissions, advanced automation and the rest of what competitors reserve for their higher tiers are included on every plan here.

At scale it inverts: their price climbs with the list — $69 at 7,500 contacts, $139 at 25,000, plus $29 for AI at every tier — while our ₪599 all-channels plan including AI stays flat.

The difference that is easiest to miss

ManyChat, WATI and Respond.io are platforms for text bots. An AI voice agent that answers a phone call is a different category, and none of them offer it.

At Connectop both capabilities sit on the same infrastructure: a voice agent can take the call and continue the conversation on WhatsApp in the same context, without the customer repeating themselves.

Frequently asked

What is the difference between Connectop and ManyChat?

ManyChat is a self-serve platform — you get a tool, build the bot yourself, and the price scales with your contact count. Connectop is a full implementation: scoping, building, integration with your existing systems, training and maintenance, with 2,500 contacts included in the monthly fee, or every channel plus AI on a single ₪599 per month plan. Connectop also provides AI voice agents for phone answering, which ManyChat does not offer.

Is there a WATI alternative with proper Hebrew support?

Yes. WATI is an English-interface platform priced per seat, with separate add-ons for automation triggers and AI credits. Connectop is an Israeli alternative with a Hebrew interface and Hebrew support, full implementation instead of self-build, and AI phone answering alongside chat.

Which WhatsApp bot platform is cheapest?

Compared like for like the gap is smaller than it looks. The ManyChat plan that matches ours is Pro — 2,500 contacts at $29 a month, with AI a further $29, so about $58 a month. Our comparable tier is ILS 299, roughly $80 — a difference of around $20 a month, which covers the build, the integration, maintenance and Hebrew support by phone and WhatsApp. At scale it inverts: ManyChat rises to $69 at 7,500 contacts and $139 at 25,000, plus $29 for AI at every tier, while Connectop's all-channels plan including AI stays flat at ILS 599. WATI charges $24 to $59 per additional seat, and Respond.io charges $12 per 100 active contacts in overage.

Do ManyChat, WATI or Respond.io offer an AI voice agent for phone calls?

No. All three are text messaging platforms. AI phone answering is a separate category; at Connectop it is delivered through AGENTALK, the voice platform the company owns.

Not sure which approach fits?

A short scoping call. If it turns out a self-serve tool would serve you better, we will say so.
